Grant and Bursaries
UK and EU undergraduate students who have not been to University before may be eligible for certain grants and bursaries on top of their student loan. You do not have to pay back any grants or bursaries after you have finished your course.
Government grants
- If your household income is less than £25,000 a year you may receive a Higher Education Maintenance Grant of up to £2,906.
- If you are a part time student on a low income you may be eligible for a fee grant or course grant
- If you have children you can apply for additional parent's support, including a grant for up to 85% of your childcare costs.
- If you have a disability you can apply for Disabled Students Allowance to help with funded support such as non-medical helpers and specialist equipment and/or technology.
- Certain healthcare courses are funded by NHS bursaries. Visit the NHS student funding website to find out more.
Applying for government grants
The Higher Education Maintenance Grant is assessed on your Student Finance application form, so there is no need to apply separately. Just make sure you give consent for the University to see your information. For part time funding, disability or childcare support please follow the links above. University of Salford bursaries
