Living Costs
You’ll need to take into account your day to day living costs. This is what an average student living away from home spends each week during term time:
|
Accommodation (University) |
From £63.00 From £77.20 |
| Food | £41.70 |
| Entertainment | £21.60 |
| Transport | £14.50 |
| Bills | £14.50 |
| Books and Stationery | £10.50 |
| Total (living in university accommodation) | £165.80 |
The University provides accommodation on campus to suit every budget, visit the accommodation website for details.
Council Tax
All full time students are exempt from paying council tax. You need to give a council tax exemption certificate to your landlord or local council each academic year. An exemption certificate should be sent to your student email shortly after you register. If you do not receive your certificate you can request one online.
Television Licence
If you are in a short hold tenancy (i.e. with a private landlord) one television licence will cover the whole property, in university residences each student with a TV will need their own licence. Visit the TV licensing website for more information.
