Student Life  Advice & Support

Mature Students

The University has a long and successful history of working with local and regional colleges to provide access for mature students. We are a widening participation university, and we want you to enjoy a fully supportive environment in which to study.

Although mature students offer a lot in the way of vocational experience, they may find it difficult to access Higher Education, through lack of formal qualifications. A number of schemes are run to help mature students get into Higher Education. For more information email uk-recruitment@salford.ac.uk or read the government's guidance for mature students.

The University also offers a free Study Skills programme to help equip students with the skills necessary to make the most of their academic potential. This covers general maths and english skills as well as University-specific skills such as referencing and note taking.
