Returning from an interruption

Interruptions of studies can vary in length, but any time away from university can have unexpected affects on your student experience. As well as the difficulties with getting back into 'study mode' again after a long break, you may find your interruption affects your student finance.

However, did you know that you are entitled to full student finance for one extra year on top of the length of your degree? If you have had a 'false start' year at another university, or if you have had to interrupt your course for personal reasons, you may still be entitled to full funding for the rest of your degree. More information about this can be found on this page of Student Finance England's website. If you have any questions about student finance, you can email the finance advisers on advice@salford.ac.uk or call 0161 295 0023.

Alternatively, if you have taken an interruption as maternity leave, you might be interested in our Families at Salford information. This has details on local childcare providers and schools, and where to apply for childcare funding.

If you think you may need a bit of extra support on the academic side of things, our study skills service offers workshops to help you with essential skills such as essay referencing, to ensure you don't miss out on vital marks for your degree.

You are not alone!

As you can see, there is a lot of support Student Life can offer to help ensure your return to University goes as smoothly as possible. If you have any concerns or problems, please do not hesitate to contact us. You may find that whatever is concerning you is not as big an obstacle as you thought!
